Dental Exams & Cleanings
In keeping with the recommendations of the American Dental Association, our team encourages patients to visit every six months for dental checkups and teeth cleanings. During these appointments, we’ll screen for common warning signs of oral health concerns, answer any questions you may have, demonstrate and explain proper at-home care, make product recommendations, and provide a complete and effective professional teeth cleaning. If it’s been six or more months since your last checkup, be sure to come see us soon!
Dental sealants are a good investment for children and even some adults who suffer from serious tooth decay. These thin plastic coatings are painted directly over the chewing surfaces of back teeth, serving as a durable barrier that keeps out cavity-causing food particles and helps your smile remain healthy.
Nightguards for Bruxism
Many patients grind and clench their teeth while they sleep, which is a condition called bruxism. While it may seem difficult to stop an unconscious habit, the solution is quite simple. We custom craft comfortable nightguards that place a physical barrier between the rows of teeth, preventing unnecessary dental damage or wear that may occur due to nighttime teeth grinding and clenching. There are over the counter varieties available, but many patients find the customized guards we make much more comfortable. The increased comfort ensures patients will comply by using their guards nightly.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Any patient can be diagnosed with oral cancer, even those who don’t engage in traditional high-risk behaviors like tobacco use or excessive alcohol consumption. That’s why we include oral cancer screenings as part of every six-month checkup. The process is quick and painless. We simply examine your soft tissue, face, and oral structures for lumps, discolorations, sores, or other indicators that there may be a concern. If you have a chronic sore throat or notice these other warning signs, we ask that you contact us right away for an examination.
During dental development, fluoride absorbed from the foods we eat and from tap water makes it possible for us to build strong, healthy teeth. Some patients may need to include fluoride supplements in their diet if they do not receive adequate levels due to drinking bottled water or other concerns. In most cases, we offer fluoride treatments for younger patients and adults who experience frequent tooth decay or dental sensitivity. For this treatment, a liquid sealant is painted onto the surfaces of the smile where it is absorbed, strengthening teeth.
